Perfect Shade is a new solo performance work that mashes together drag, performance art, live and music and movement to create an anarchic and queer amalgamation of colour, gender and privilege from Chittagong to Nilgiri Hills to Tāmaki Makaurau, from Bangladesh to Aotearoa.
Perfect Shade is a multi-disciplinary performance party unpacking the politics of colourism and bi-racial identities and the legacies we have inherited. Part historical epic, part music gig, a full noise and full joy unpacking of the politics that exist in our bodies and our histories.
Created and performed by Sarita Das (BodyHaus, First World Problems). Sarita is a non binary, Bengali-Pakeha multidisciplinary artist and Somatic Sex Educator. Their art covers a range of theatre, drag, music – which tackles the in between spaces of being bi-racial, gender fluid, and queer.
