This upcoming Pride Festival season The Others Club is set to deliver a spectacular theatrical collaboration from creatives across the LGBTQIA+ community with Take The Crown.
A devised piece of theatre featuring five brilliant queer performers, embark with us on a journey to land full of adventure and accountability. A queer celebration filled with pop hits and public callouts, this show is loud, unapologetic, angry and divine.
Take The Crown explores the efforts queer people have to go to, to make sure they have space to exist, interrogating ideas of privilege and power and examining and challenging the appropriation of queer culture by straight people.
We will be taking names, snatching wigs, and organising a revolution.
The concept was workshopped with Red Leap Theatre Company in 2018 and an excerpt of piece just finished an award winning run at the Short and Sweet Festival 2019. (Best Actor, Best Writer).
This event was made possible through the Pride & Spark Empowerment Initiative, and is proudly supported by the Waitemata Local Board and the Rule Foundation.
The Basement Studio is not wheelchair accessible due to stairs.
